Mother's Day

May 08, 2004 23:29

I wrote this poem for my mom and grandma...figured I'd share it. It's in terza rima...heh...

What words could I possibly conceive of using
To describe the two greatest women I
Have ever been blessed with loving.

There is no other on whom I more rely,
And no one else who I love more
Than you two. I do not deserve thy

Selfless, loving deeds and I adore
You for all of those things
You have given me before.

I love you more each day that brings
The glowing sun and the gentle breeze,
For you have been preparing my wings

So that I may prepare for the seas
Of which I am least acquainted
And of which most frightens me.

But do not be sad, though the future be fainted,
I’ll fight with all I am to make you proud
To repay your deeds, so sainted,

That causes witnesses all around
To be envious of the greatest gift
God ever decided to hand down.

That greatest gift of which I review
Is none other than the love of you two.
