Although I have absolutely no experience with the rather more important field of parenting, I would like to point out that everyone wishes for things they don't actually want. No matter how frequently my mother must have thought "Marguerite is causing me such trouble. I wish someone else was raising her. I wish she wasn't mine", she's still MY mother, and I know that she would never give me away. Similarly, I'm sure you had the thought cross your mind "Why don't they just put me up for adoption? I'd give anything to have different parents..."
I'm sure you've already thought of that all, but yeah...

My problem was more that the friend in question had it not just as an idle thought -- it was something apparently she had thought rather frequently. Admittedly, it was regarding a cat, but still. Avery is absolutely adorable.
