There was an actual town creepier than Rosewood. Hanna didn't think it was possible, but Ravenswood was the clear winner. There was a mime! 'A' was clearly evil.
Currently, the mime was making his way toward the girls, his eyes set on Aria. Hanna could swear the mime just looked into her soul. Aria was already protesting the magic trick he wanted her to help with involving a box.
"No way," Aria said, fearful. "I don't do boxes."
She tried to push Spencer toward him. "Take her instead, she loves magic."
"I don't think he's going away," Spencer said, nearly whispering. "I know this trick. You'll be okay."
The mime was not relenting, so Aria followed him to the box. After a few moments, he waved his arms around before the box opened. She was gone.
"Wait, where'd she go?" Hanna said, nearly frantic. Look, when you've basically been stalked by psychos for three years, you tend to panic when one of your fellow torturees disappears.
"Just...wait a second," Spencer replied, though there was wariness in her voice.
More moments passed until the mime reopened the box, revealing Aria in perfect health. Hanna breathed a sigh of relief. It was short lived, though.
As Aria walked back, she was looking past them. "Where's Emily?"
Before they could say anything, all three of their cellphones buzzed. A message from their nemesis perhaps?
Leger de main. Kisses bitches. - A
"It means sleight of hand." Of course, Spencer knew what it meant and even pronounced it in perfect French.
She continued. "While we were watching you, 'A' took Emily."
Hanna still wanted to know how. Did 'A' perform some crazy magic trick? They didn't hear a struggle. Did the townsfolk look the other way? What the hell? Hanna was...confuzzled seemed to be a good word.
They had no idea where to even begin to look for her, so Aria just called Emily's cellphone. Emily was already freaking out, apparently trapped in a coffin of some sort. She was crying and panic stricken, as anyone would be. They all heard her frantic cries for them to find her.
"I hear a saw!" Emily cried.
Spencer was able to determine she was at a sawmill right down the road. They spotted someone else who was leading them there: Red Coat. Or CeCe?
The girls arrived in time to watch the coffin with Emily inside inch its way toward the saw on a conveyor belt. They frantically tried to force it open, but it wasn't working. Hanna was about to suggest pulling the whole box off. Emily might be bruised, but it was better than being cut into pieces.
They didn't have to, though. Someone pushed the off button. The off button? What a novel idea! Why didn't they think of it? Hanna was chalking it up to the panic.
Red Coat is the one who turned it off...or so they thought? There were currently two Red Coats running away, both blond. Spencer took off after the one who turned the machine off. She was headed outside. Aria ran for the one that went up into the rafters. Hanna stayed put to help Emily, as she begged to be let out. Once free, Hanna helped Emily out, then gave her a big protective hug. She was still shaking.
As she held her, she glanced up toward the rafters, watching Aria and her Red Coat. That one was CeCe. They were fighting, and Aria was actually kicking ass. Dating a guy who knew martial arts paid off, apparently. She had a few skills. Hanna and Emily watched in horror as the two fighters moved closer and closer toward the railing. One of them was going over...and it wasn't Aria. CeCe grabbed onto Aria's hand, and Aria did try to help her. Unfortunately, CeCe's red coat ripped, and she fell down to the ground. She was writhing in pain.
"Call the police," Aria called out, running back down. CeCe's leg was probably broken. She wasn't going anywhere. Had they finally caught 'A'?
Spencer returned, claiming to have lost the other Red Coat. CeCe was acting like she didn't know anything about the other one. She was spouting crazy things, though, about how they ruined her life and how Wilden deserved what he got. Hanna almost agreed with that last one.
It looked as though they'd have a long night answering questions for the police. They agreed, like usual, not to reveal any of the 'A' stuff. They had enough on CeCe for killing Wilden. She was going to prison for awhile, unable to threaten them anymore.
Of course, there was the other Red Coat, but Spencer was sure she was trying to help them. She did lead them there...and she saved Emily. She was probably the same one that saved them from the fire. Alison maybe? Hanna still believed she was alive somehow.
They'd have to leave it alone for now. Spencer and Emily were leaving soon for college. Now that 'A' was out of there lives, seemingly, maybe they could all finally move on.
Not from each other, though. They made a pact to never lose touch. Hanna hoped they didn't. These girls were the best friends she could ever have. After what they had gone through together, they were bonded for life.
Hanna couldn't help getting a bit sniffly. It was over, and they were leaving, and she was going to be left behind.
[from 4x12 "Now You See Me, Now You Don't," though with a significant change regarding A; warning: this ooc note is going to be long!
This will be the last post for awhile concerning A. In this timeline, the Liars are moving on to college and other things, so I gave them the closure they didn't quite get in the actual episode. The Ali mystery will continue in future catch up posts.
Also, there was another A revealed at the end of this episode, one the girls don't know about. If the writers do a good job with this one, I may revisit it. If they fail like they did with last year's reveal, then I'm done. Which means this might be the final A post. Aww.]
