MCA #2 - Saturday Morning
Hanna had not been in the best of moods lately.
It all started a few weeks ago when Caleb called to tell her he met some orphan girl, Miranda, on a bus. She was headed to that damn creepy Ravenswood in search of her birth family. Of course Caleb was going to relate to that, and of course he was going to help her. That's just what he did.
Hanna thought very little of it. Caleb was a good guy just helping someone. That all changed a few nights ago that she met him in Rosewood for a date night. Only that didn't go as planned. He was there to break up with her, claiming things in Ravenswood were "complicated." He said it so many times. What was she supposed to conclude? She was no match for a pretty girl with orphan issues. Caleb didn't exactly deny what was happening. So that was that. He went back to his skanky new girlfriend and she went back to Fandom.
Whatever. She didn't need him! She could just forget about the two years they had together. How hard could that be, anyway? She had the assistance of distance, ice cream, and maybe a few broken plates. Breaking things proved to be her favorite way to deal with it.
All she wanted to do was hide in her room for awhile and not think about it all. The very loud knocking on her door was not what she had in mind.
Especially when she found a tiny child on the other side of the door when she opened it.
"Oh god, I really didn't need one of these weekends right now," she sighed, rubbing her head.
Ashley
The little girl with light brown hair looked up at her, frowning. "Aren't you happy to see me, Mom?"
Hanna
Hanna sighed again. "Of course I am. I'm just...not awake, yet."
Ashley
The girl looked around the apartment. "This doesn't look like home. Are we at the place you told me about?"
Hanna
"Yes, we are, so I'm going to need a little reminder. What's your full name?" Hanna asked. "See, you kind of time traveled to a time where Mommy doesn't know you, yet."
Hanna just went right to her usual blunt approach. "Understand?"
Ashley
The girl nodded. "I think so? Daddy always said you were kinda strange. I think he means it in a good way."
Hanna
Hanna suddenly had a bad feeling about this.
Ashley
"Anyway, my name is Ashley Michaela Rivers," the girl finally said.
Hanna
Hanna facepalmed. All she wanted to do was forget all about Caleb Rivers, and here, his kid was standing right in front of her. His and her kid. What the hell, universe? That was just mean!
But she could really see the resemblance.
"Fine, fine, you can stay," Hanna said. It wasn't like she'd really toss this kid out, though. It wasn't her fault her dad was a jackass.
She reached into her cupboard for some cereal. "Want some Fruit Loops?"
Ashley
Ashley beamed. "Okay!"
Hanna
"Good, because it's all I've got for breakfast," Hanna replied, grabbing two bowls. "I'll take you out for lunch later."
This was going to be an interesting weekend.
