This is particularly aimed at those of you who read this who were active in the SCA once upon a time but aren't so active now. Off the top of my head, I'm thinking of Moira, Tahira, Gideon, and Cuthberga (was that your SCA name 43duckies?), but I'm sure there are more of you. I know Marrus played in the SCA before I met her

Why is the SCA doing this? If I'm going to spend 20 minutes of my time filling out a census, I need a better idea of what's it's for and why I should bother.

To get an accurate as possible representation of who is in the SCA, who was, why they left, why those who left and then came back did come back, what people think about certain high profile topics, what suggestions people have, that kind of thing.

Rufinia's answer is pretty on target. Although they're a day late and a dollar short, the B.O.D. has finally recognized that the S.C.A. is having a problem attracting and retaining good members. They want to check-in with members and ex-members on some basic philosophical issues.
