I got another tattoo at the start of the month. Even though it's my most obvious piece of work, going from wrist to elbow, it feels the most like it was meant to be there than any others have before. I don't think it's just that it's a rocket. But maybe it is.

I'm on a bit of a down at the moment. I feel very insecure. I worry about my speech

You ROCK. Your speech patterns are among the best speech patterns out there. Speechpatternologists (of which my wife actually is one) place you in the top 0.000000001%. You are funny and clever. You've written two GREAT novels, apart from anything else. I haven't seen you recently but I can extend the pep talk to your appearance if I can assume you haven't contracted leprosy in the last few months.

Your tattoos set unrealistic standards and contribute to my lack of such adornment. "I have to have tattoos that are that awesome to justify putting them on my skin? Never mind then..."

I don't know if this is the case for you, but I know a few people feeling down at the moment, corresponding with the shorter days and less light. I'm ok at the moment, but winter gets hard for me. Hope things get a bit better for you.
