man, I'm glad you didn't get hurt! You didn't get any pictures of the basement, did you? I'd love to see, but I wouldn't want it at personal risk to you!
That guide of yours is fricking Lara Croft. I can't believe she'd just run around with the floor collapsing behind her! ha!
Some of those pictures are just heart-rendingly beautiful. The picture of the barrel of lubricant, something about it, and the colors, just floor me.
Also, I love seeing plants and stuff growing there, too!
I have been in a building that was in about the same state of deterioration. We had been asked to evaluate it for conversion to condos. The developer had bought the building "as is" and did not get an engineers report before hand. Came to find out later we were the third firm that he hired and then two more after ours. All the reports told him the same thing, "not suitable for rehabilitation".
I am glad neither of you got hurt and her without boots. How did she stay so clean?
Awesome post! The pics were great and the story with it just kicked everything up a notch! Thank you so much for sharing and hopefully you and your guide will have more adventures captured on film. Please be safe however. A 20 foot fall, or the like is not something anyone wants to experience.

Your like the gateway to valid UER engineering histories. Just thought I'd point that out for the record.

It sucks for UER because if I am there most likely soon after these guys are as well Controlled Demolition Incorporated (CDI).
I only get to go into these places once or twice a year. Most of my time is spent helping create new structures.
Land use in cyclic as is life. Nature will reclaim.
