The Kirkbride that Almost Killed Me: Part 1 of 3

Back story: After performing several recon visits, I had enough information to make a solo attempt on this Kirkbride.

In the dead of night, I left home to make the commute to the site. At 4am when I arrived in the neighborhood near the Kirk, I saw a group of people moving stealthily, hugging the shadows. Tripods and camera bags pegged them as a ( Read more... )

All those pictures are great, but something is nagging at the back of my brain. That shot of the "Skywalk", I'm sure I've seen that photo (or at least a photo of that same place) somehwere before. In fact, I think it was in this very community (or the journal of a member). I recall them talking about the building having a fire in the past, too, but I also remember that they didn't mention it being such a high-security, dangerous site for urbexing.

Does anyone else remember the entry I'm talking about? I'm not just going crazy or having deja vu, am I?

RanaX has a post of this location. She's truly Elite, so I'm not ashamed to say she was there way ahead of me.

Very nice.

How'd you walk across the skyway? Did you crawl?

Kind of a bent over run. I would have crawled, but then my photo would have had turtle tracks through the debris on the floor.

Then when I was composing the shot, I noticed pieceof trash on the floor. I had to duck walk back out to remove it from my frame.
