Alright, I've just been having an arguement at univeristy about the self-improvment philosophy of transhumanism... this probably doesn't make any sense to anyone who actually knows what they are talking about, and I certainlly don't claim to be a scholar in this area, but i have need of ranting space.

At least it's an interesting essay. :) I think Transhumanism is probably a good thing -- from a distance. In actual practice, it is not as practical as the theory of it seems to be, much like a Utopian society. It's not really possible given human nature, but it sure is a pretty pipe dream.

really? I kinda like being flawed.
The idea of a perfect society frightens me no end.
It is our scars that make us who we are, our imperfections and our lumps and bumps..

Me too, but you can where some might feel the draw. I think that especially for people who are living hard lives, the idea of no more worries and absolute perfection and endless happiness looks wonderful. As soon as one gets closer to the reality, one realizes there IS no perfection, no Utopian society. People are flawed and always will be.

And yes, I prefer the warts of normal life.
