First, the post-mortem on the Patriots season. They had a catastrophic list of injuries suffered early and often, including the best player in the league in the first quarter of the first game, and somehow managed to cobble together an 11-5 season. The Pats 11-5 finish is a very strong argument for re-seeding the playoffs so that the teams with the overall best records in each conference get in.

/still hates the Pats.

I am on the fence about the Eagles' changes against the Giants. The Giants are probably a better team, but I could see them collapsing. And after the Eagles' performance on Sunday, I am feeling pretty damn good about my team right now.

It would be easy for me to sit here being a Pats fan and make that argument that they should just redo the the league so that there are no divisions, just conferences, continue having the teams play 2 games each against their "divisional" opponents but effectively only care about overall record in the conference to avoid goofiness like this.

But the rules are the rules. The Pats had a couple of games that they could have won slip through their fingers, specifically the Colts game and the Jets OT loss. I guess what I could say, is that the best team in the AFC East right now is not in the playoffs, but the team that through the course of the entire 16 game season that had a better year, Miami, is. So that's life.

The Eagles are definitely one of those spoiler teams that could cause a lot of damage in the playoffs, so I wouldn't be surprised by it. I mean, the Giants were pretty mediocre last year until they hit a hot streak at the end of the season that saw them get progressively better all the way thru the Super Bowl. So who knows.
