You'll need something with a specific 'Phono' input - very very few record players have amps built in, and they need a mighty lot of amping to actually hear. If you only get fuzz when you put it through the phono on the amp, how dja know the thing works? :)

i managed to get the mp3 ripping to work in the summer thanks to my ex!
apparently as its a cheap record player it has an amp in it so thats why it makes fuzz when i put it through the phono. when i play records on the hi-fi i put it into the mini disk innput bit.
i think the problem is to do with the line in part of the computer / the soundcard since i can get it to play when i plug the headphone jack into the 'output' on the computer.

i have no idea how to fix that!

if theres a little speaker on the bottom right of yr toolbar (near the clock), double click it, go to properties, then change to recording, and make sure that the right input is selected.
mine is different so that was from memory, so sorry if thats just wrong..

what records are they? my dad has a big (10's of thousands of records, literally!) database of records and he might have what you have and then i could record the vinyls to mp3's and send them to you. or he could do that. i aint gotta clue how to go about it but he's got a pure fancy set up and strange wires and stuff, so i suppose he doess! he's out right now but when he's home i'll ask him what he does and i'll pass it on to you or something?!

ps - i wanna see those pics!!!
