I don't really know how to explain this without going uber techie (in relation to the rest of my LJ) just I know you all read this and I can plan out what I want to say.. If I ask anyone face to face it wouldn't make any sense PLUS I only have to type it once :D ( Read more... )

A couple more things, Start->Programs->Accessories->System Tools->Clean up or something. Take out everything and let your pc freeze up for 30 minutes. Clear your history files in IE and delete all known cookies. Reply with the max cookie folder size too please.

http://housecall65.trendmicro.com/ <-- another online antivirus scanner that i have used to fix my pc in the past, it takes awhile but it has fixed my pc before when norton, spybot:sd , adaware, and panda had failed to fix my pc, other than that i aggree with neil, get rid of all temporary internet everything and then run every anitvirus and anti trojan peice of software you can get your hands on that you know is real (dont just google for them as a lot of virus's pretend to be antivirus stuff)

I have a very dangerous way of dealing with trojans and viruses. I do the usual scans first, if nothing from that I go into safe mode and do all the scans from there. If I'm still sure I have a virus I go do the manual shit. Into every file in the Windows directory and look thru for anything that looks weird or out of place. I can usually identify the erroneous items and set about deleting them. (I have a good eye for noticing the odd things because my computer has only a very certain range of programs. I delete most others.) Refusing to delete? Then I go nuke mode and destroy folders until it's gone. Very risky (and of course I back up everything in case formatting is the only opton), but I've successfully cleaned my computer this way twice before.

Also, never take my advice. I'm a bad influence.

FFS.. I fuckin hate McAfee why did I eve bother....

I got annoyed with Norton one day and thought "this sucks, always having to but your liscense over and over". So I deleted it and bought McAfee which is free to update afaik (even this could be wrong now).

Yes Norton is very invasive and has loads of little applets and crap - but jesus it's good at what it does....

PC's back to normal - all sorted ^^ (norton found 33 Trojans and Backdoor.Trojans on my PC - gg McAfee ^^)
