With the exception of the top of Mt. Kilimanjaro, Mt. Diablo's summit offers a panoramic view showing more of the earth's surface than any other peak in the world.

It makes sense, but I have to wonder how they determine that!

interesting. Lack of high mountains surrounding it to limit it's view? I would think that Mt. Shasta would have it beat if that was the only factor though, because it definitely stands very high, and very alone.

I just looked up more information about Mt. Diablo's viewing area, and, well, according to Wikipedia, that boundless source of all information, my fact of the day is busted. I will have to tell the California Travel & Tourism Commission that one of its Fascinating Facts about the state is wrong. :(
