“You want to play the game; you need to look the part.  Just wait till you see the difference”.

Hooker gave Henry a skeptical look.  A quick shave and a haircut weren’t going to make much of a difference.

The cab stopped outside a barber’s shop in Michigan Avenue.

Thank you, Ticken, I'm enjoying this!

I especially liked, “How in the hell’d you get the ace of clubs? It was at the bottom of the deck”.

“How’d you know it was at the bottom of the deck, smart guy”,

They're both cheating! I thought that was brilliant.

One niggling point: I'm not entirely sure that Johnny would think of the girls as world weary sluts, though. Back in Joilet, his girlfriend was a stripper, and he treated her and the other women at the burlesque show as just people who worked for a living. I tend to think he'd treat the prostitutes the same way.

You still have the tension going nicely, in this section! I really enjoyed Henry shaving, though. I think half the audience wanted to shave off Henry's mustache at some point in the movie!

Oh, this is very good! I really am enjoying revisiting The Sting through your stories!
Hooker's transformation was one of the fun parts of the movie for me, and then seeing it in context of his growing relationship with Henry made it even more fun.
I like the accidental touching that leads to unexpected feelings being brought to the surface. I look forward to reading more!
