When I was a school principal I had several staff get involved in this pseudo self improvement course. They ended up spending vast amounts of money and being rostered on for huge chunks of time to attend meetings. I went along to an introductory evening to basically get the staff off my case. The audience was peppered with members who clapped enthusiastically as a range of talks were given about the benefits. The night was long and the breaks were rare. Members surrounded you in the auditorium andI got the impression that there were more members that new candidiates. You had to very resolute and oppositional to keep them away. In their favour they did not pursue me after that as I was obviously not the type they were after. Like you I checked out the websites etc- scarey scarey stuff in my view.
