Wearing only lounge pants, he crosses his arms over his chest and grins down at Steve, a look of pure mischief on his face.
"I think this works much better, don't you?"
Danny crosses into the room, moving to the open box with the intention of helping. As he moves behind Steve, he can't help but ruffle the taller man's hair, Danny's smile only growing brighter as he squats down and pulls out a beautiful handmade ornament.
"How many generations?"

"That one's got to be passed down at least three generations' worth of McGarretts," he teases, even though it's an obviously handmade ornament - a star made out of popsicle sticks with 'Steven McGarrett' sloppily written on the back.

A faded golden pink, it was shaped in the classic inverted spade, and decorated with the finest of knotted lines. It looked like it belonged in a museum more so than in a cardboard box.
"Mom never kept any ornaments longer than a season. Each year she'd go out and buy new ones. Ever since she broke her favorite; guess she didn't want to get attached again," Danny mused softly, taking a newer ornament and hanging it carefully.

"Some people have trouble with commitment," he says, though he's trying to keep his tone light as he looks over the popsicle star, setting it to one side before gently unwrapping another.
