A million years ago, when I (sort of) finished Harry's room at #4 Privet Drive, I promised that when the final touches were added, I would post more pictures. Well, it's been an entire year and a half, and I'm finally getting around to posting them! My apologies, y'all. I'm very lame.

The event that occasions me finally getting around to posting these is that anwi1017, who is awesome and knows me ridiculously well, managed to locate a Harry action figure that is in the right scale for his room, and she's sending it to me for my birthday! I've been searching for one for the last 18 months, and I can't believe how scarce they are. So Harry's room will, at long last, have an inhabitant! *dances* (He will be HBP Harry, not GoF Harry, even though the room is circa GoF. I am utterly unperturbed.) So I've gotten all the finishing touches ready for him to finally come... er, "home"?... later this week.

There are a few new elements in Harry's room that I'm really excited to share with everybody. (As before, stuff I made is marked with an asterisk.) First, here's an updated shot of the whole room:

A very important new addition is that Harry's Firebolt is leaning against his bookshelf now (this one's a little blurry, sorry about that):

In the original entry, I mentioned that Harry's floor is a mess, with shoes and pajamas littering it. Here's a shot of his school shoes, his very rumpled pj's, his blue bedroom slippers, and his new knitted rug*:

Here's a new favorite addition of mine. Nothing in any of the books suggests that Harry enjoys cricket -- his sporting time at school is all taken up with Quidditch, of course! But Dan Radcliffe, who's done such a wonderful job of bringing Harry to life on the screen, is an inveterate fan of the cricket. So, in honor of Dan, Harry has a cricket bat leaning against his wardrobe door. After all, he's got to have some sport when he's not at school! (You can also get a clearer view of his rug.):

I think this is a very cool addition -- Harry's orrery*. Dumbledore's office is full of these ancient devices for studying the rotation of the planets, but Harry's got a simple one of his own for his astronomy classes. You can also see his telescope there, next to the crystal ball:

Harry's school bag has been moved to the floor next to his desk chair, in order to make room for his school scarf* (knitters will note -- and, I hope, forgive! -- that my color jogs are atrocious, because I hadn't yet learned how to do them properly; this miniature ribbing took so dang long to do, though, that I can't bring myself to re-knit the thing now!):

At last I have a decent picture of the top of Harry's desk. It seems he's in the midst of a bit of pre-term homework or research: he's got a scroll, a piece of parchment, his quill and inkpot, and his copy of Defensive Magical Theory all spread out, in addition to his lantern and a few stray tarot cards:

There are a couple of new items in Harry's school trunk now -- a wonderful scroll all about dragons (good thing he's got this... maybe it'll have some information about Hungarian Horntails!), and the Sneak-O-Scope* that Ron gave him for Christmas last year:

Finally, Harry's bed has some new items. In addition to his favorite book and his famous glasses, there's also his wand. I feel extremely lucky to be the first person to have a replica of the wand Harry uses in the movies, from EVMiniatures (link below)! In addition, Harry's left his school sweater* out on the foot of his bed. He should probably put that away....

I'm not sure yet where Harry himself will go, when he arrives... maybe he'll be sitting on his bed, reading his book, or maybe he'll linger by his bookshelf to look at his photographs. Wherever he is, I'm very excited that Harry's room will be officially occupied soon!

SOURCES:
Harry's broom, cricket bat, and the spinning-top that forms the base of his Sneak-O-Scope were hand-made by Chris Sturgess-Lief. I just love his work!
The kit to make the orrery, the two beautiful scrolls, and Harry's wand are the beautiful work of Ericka van Horn.
The pattern for Harry's school sweater is a modification of the Boys' School Uniform sweater pattern offered by Buttercup Miniatures.
