A portal appeared and I walked through, stepping over the decapitated head of a worthless demon. As the doorway closed, I turned and stared at the carnage left in my wake. Tough day at the office. Or at least, it would be if I actually had an office to have a tough day in. I'm sure Daphne would set me up with something if I asked, but honestly, I did my best work out on the streets.. like today.

The Boss sent down a call before noon from a tearful--yet wealthy--elderly woman who claims her grandson was possessed by Satan and had murdered his parents. The police were still investigating the double homicide, but of course they could never even imagine the killer being their one year old son. Hell, even I had trouble believing that one.. but she was offering up a nice bucket load of change, and Daphne wanted it looked into anyway. I'm not one to argue.. and if it was true, this would turn out pretty interesting ( ... )

Turning, I stare at the mortal. "The dimension was tiny in comparison to the rage stirring within my soul. The creatures I encountered were little more than insects and easily dispatched." My head tilted to the side as I remembered a phrase the blonde half-breed would say, "I hardly broke a sweat..."

The tiny human moved in my arms, as it had fallen asleep some time ago. Glancing down, a look of disdain crossed my face before my head snapped back up and I stared at the one called Constantine. "This rage I felt was caused by the reason I ventured through that portal. This child was in danger and for a reason I am unable to fathom...a need grew within me to protect it and deliver it safely to its family ( ... )
