 It took over two weeks of his not returning messages for me to finally set up an initial meeting with my independent study supervisor.

I guess I shouldn't be surprised that he didn't show up for it.

Does he have a reputation for this kind of disrespect? (Or perhaps his mother is stuck in an iron lung in an Amish community, desperately pedalling to keep herself breathing, and he needs to attend her at odd moments because of her irrational fear of men with beards?)
