Correct me if I'm wrong, but I *think* that even if a person crossposts a comment they made on a locked entry, only the comment will show up on their feed, and others still won't be able to access the actual entry in question. Or else the entire point of having locked posts would be defeated.That's my understanding too. However, that comment could easily quote from the original entry, possibly quite extensively. Even if it doesn't, it could still give away the topic of the post (and, if the reposter and the OP are acquainted in RL, potentially to a circle of friends and family very similar on each site, and associated with real names). For instance, suppose user X posts an f-locked entry about whether or not she should leave her abusive husband who threatened to kill her last night. She filters it carefully so LJ-using hubby won't even know that post exists. A comment from a friend might say something like "He's an asshole, honey, you'd be better off without him. Don't wait. I'm here if you need anything, okay?" It's possible ( ... )

This is the best comment I've seen so far for explaining exactly why this is a bad idea. This comment needs to be plastered everywhere.

Not that it even needs to go to the level of "abusive husband" to be a problem, obviously. But this is a perfect example of a worst-case scenario where someone's life could actually be in danger because someone checked a box by accident.
