We've got some exciting updates this week, so sit tight and we'll get started. Of course, news would not be complete without a special gift from Frank. it was odd and unfortunate timing, but after doing some research about the sell-out to SUP, i have a strong feeling it was merely part of characteristic layoffs that occur when a company switches management.

sadly, this new Russian SUP ownership means that LJ has probably been in the process of changing their business model for quite some time. users in Russia don't typically use LJ for the same purposes those do from the U.S./North America. even though LJ stats show that U.S. users comprise a staggering majority of the site's userbase, the driving force behind the network is now abroad and likely out of the U.S. LJ Staff's hands, for the most part.

LJ is by far the most popular blogging network in Russia; the Russian name for LJ has even become the synonym there for blogging in general, unlike here where LJ is nowhere near as popular as MySpace/Facebook/Twitter, and so on. latest news reports state that even the Russian President created an LJ for himself. wow, right ( ... )

i agree on all points; this is turning out to be a major disappointment. i've been so attached to LJ for years, for reasons various and sundry, and i hate the thought that i might have to give it up in the event that certain changes can't/won't be made.

OH MY GOD I KNOW. Daily, freakin daily I have to see Twitter shove its celebrities in my face. Listen, Twitter: I AM NOT AT ALL INTERESTED IN FOLLOWING CELEBRITIES. I watched a couple of them for awhile, and it made me hate them! They all sounded so idiotic. Sigh. Stop putting it in my face, Twitter...

Wait, where am I again? Oh yeah, LJ. ;)

Haha, I would apologize but I had basically the same reaction when I first saw it myself (all credit goes to chaobell, they made the image in the first place).
