sadly, this new Russian SUP ownership means that LJ has probably been in the process of changing their business model for quite some time. users in Russia don't typically use LJ for the same purposes those do from the U.S./North America. even though LJ stats show that U.S. users comprise a staggering majority of the site's userbase, the driving force behind the network is now abroad and likely out of the U.S. LJ Staff's hands, for the most part.
LJ is by far the most popular blogging network in Russia; the Russian name for LJ has even become the synonym there for blogging in general, unlike here where LJ is nowhere near as popular as MySpace/Facebook/Twitter, and so on. latest news reports state that even the Russian President created an LJ for himself. wow, right ( ... )
