Error for Flexible Squares elrhiarhodan March 13 2015, 23:27:14 UTC
I, and other Flexible Squares users, are getting the following error message when journal entries are loading comments:

Error running style: Died in S2::run_code running EntryPage::print(): Method called on null Comment object at 'Flexible Squares' (#4472608) line 2506 at /home/lj/src/s2/S2.pm line 544, line 2443.

This is not a CSS issue as it occurs whether or not I have a layout loaded or not, and there are other Flexible Squares users who are using the same layout but are completely unaffected.

It's not just Flexible Squares. I purposely change my layout on a comm to Opal, and it's doing the same thing.

LJ needs to get on the stick and fix this.

Best way to deal in the short term is turn off your custom comments page. Hopefully, LJ will fix this soon.

I checked to see if this would help me, as my comments aren't working either. My custom comments were already set to "No" and they STILL DON'T WORK. :( Any other ideas how to fix it?

Actually, you have to change it to "YES" because the setting is "Disable customized comment pages for your journal ". In my earlier instructions, I had it reversed.

Sorry for the confusion.

Thanks it worked. But as everyone else is... I'm annoyed to lose my custom comments page. I chose my layout cause I liked it. But the comments are more important than the aesthetics I guess. :/

Just to weigh in that this issue has also cropped up for a community i'm on the mod list for and trying to fix it without success has been driving me mad. We now have the default comment page enabled, but this is annoying the hell out a of lot of community members.

Can this be fixed please LJ.

Before I'd realized that this was an LJ problem and not a new bug in my CSS, I posted a question on the Flexible Squares community, and they told me that it's listed as an official bug and they are working on it.

So, I guess patience is a virtue at this point.

And a lot of the comms I manage are in the same boat.

Thanks for the info. I'm okay with waiting if it means this gets fixed.

Does this seem to be primarily a problem for community layouts rather than individual's journals?

Nope - it seems to be dependent on the server that your community/journal is on. I have friends using the identical style sheet who aren't having this issue, but they have communities that are. It's a script problem with a lot of S2 layouts (someone above reported the same problems using the Opal style).

Sigh. Love when LJ tries to improve things. /end sarcasm.

Server dependent, so not even a consistent error. Fantastic *head desk*.
