Well we really screwed this one up…

For reasons we are still trying to figure out what was supposed to be a well planned attempt to clean up a few journals that were violating LiveJournal's policies that protect minors turned into a total mess. I can only say I’m sorry, explain what we did wrong and what we are doing to correct these problems and explain what we were trying to do but ( Read more... )

I'm sorry, but I'm still not impressed.

It still took you two days to respond to us as opposed to public media.

I won't be renewing my paid account.

I'm just stating how I feel. Where exactly are YOU involved in that?

I'm involved as such that I appreciate that someone is actually doing something to take care of the site, instead of just complaining that his feelings were hurt by a simple mistake tha happened because of a desire to do some good.

I think you're misunderstanding what it is I'm upset about.

Why don't you read my comment again and get back to me? :-)

Take a look at the comments on the last two newsposts. She's not the only one to feel this way.

Oooooooh someone made a mistake trying while trying to better the site. Get over it. At least someone cares about the general good and not just some narcissistic jackoff.

For a "well-planned" attempt, this mass-deleting-without-notification thing wasn't executed very well. Truth is, it will take quite a bit of doing for people to trust LJ/Six Apart again, whether or not what they did was for the greater good.

It's fine and dandy for them to want to do the Right Thing(c), but they seriously messed up by alienating their own community while doing it.

I apologize if I came off a bit snappy. I actually don't want to get into an argument with you.

I honestly think that teh_kimeye and other LJers with her opinions have a valid reason to be, well, pissed off and unwilling to forgive so quickly.

Thank you for understanding where I'm coming from - and other users as well.

And thank you for keeping it rational. That's also appreciated :-D.

No problem. Like I said, you're not the only one who feels that way. :)

And ahahaha, I have better things to be doing than getting into flamewars at 2am.

Like, for instance... sleep. x_X It only makes me glad I'm in California rather than say New York while waiting for this post to show up. *grin*

Sorry. I talked to only one person from the press and I made clear that we were trying to figure out what went wrong. They did not quote me on that.

I wasn't expecting a personal comment. I appreciate that greatly (and I wish you luck in trying to answer all of us! :-D)

I understand that the media can (and often does) misquote people, but the serious lack of communication directly to LJ users until now has severely damaged my trust in your company.

I really would have liked to hear from a spokesperson sooner, even if it was just to say "We are aware of the problem and are dealing with it currently."

As a result, it will take quite a while for me to put my complete trust in LJ again, but hopefully I'll be able to at some point in the future.

Once again, I thank you for responding to me personally.

I never once "backpedalled" and stated that I would be renewing my paid account. I merely elaborated on my first statement of disappointment over how the situation was handled.
