Well we really screwed this one up…

This does not cover what YOU said on CNET: "Our decision here was not based on pure legal issues. It was based on what community we want to build and what we think is appropriate within that community and what's not."

That statement suggests a plan, rather than a mistake. I don't believe you and I still don't feel reassured.

I understand that and action speak louder than words.

As for a plan, I say above that we did plan to clean up some clear violations that had lingered too long and to clarify our profile policy. That was the plan... we messed it up.

And how, exactly, do you plan to judge what is "appropriate" content? I have "anti-war" as one of my interests. How do I know this won't be deemed "inappropriate" at some point?

I do not in any way condone the sexual exploitation of children or sexual violence, but this is a slippery slope which your response entirely fails to address.

i have to agree with you here. that statement still worries me. censorship, anyone???? it very much suggestes a plan rather than an honest mistake, which makes me highly suspicious.

I wonder how much of the apology has to do with the fact that online RPGs were leaving in droves, taking their paid accounts with them. Figure at least a dozen in every game - probably twice that in most games.

Then there are the fanfic writers who have paid accounts who were leaving, the fan communities...

My bet is that losing a couple thousand dollars an hour might have had something to do with the apology.

We shall see...
