Well we really screwed this one up…

May 31, 2007 00:47

For reasons we are still trying to figure out what was supposed to be a well planned attempt to clean up a few journals that were violating LiveJournal's policies that protect minors turned into a total mess. I can only say I’m sorry, explain what we did wrong and what we are doing to correct these problems and explain what we were trying to do but ( Read more... )

WHOA.

HOLD ON.

WAIT A GODDAMN SECOND.

I am suddenly and severely lessed than pleased about this so-called "apology".

Screening comments, for any reason is BAD FORM, sir.

You almost had me there. I was forgiving, moving on.

EPIC FAIL.

Are you KIDDING, LJ?! God. Nice one. YOU DO NOT WIN. AT ALL. In fact, you FAIL.

Brad, where are you?

6A, QUIT IT ALREADY. You keep fucking with us, and we're NOT backing down.

If you read the latest entry in brad, he's got something to say. Not a lot, but somehow, more comforting than this post.

Well, the fact that he no longer works on LJ isn't very comforting...

I could ALMOST guarantee that this shit wouldn't have happened had Brad still been running Livejournal.

I screened it 'cause it had a youtube video in it, and I didn't want people to get upset that they had to deal with those in comments here (since I don't *think* they get placeholdered). Let me know if that's not a problem, and I can unscreen it.

How about a freaking explanation.

This is not the post to go around screening comments because of a friggin' youtube video when you are losing a good chunk of your paying members.

It placeholders if you turn on the options for it to, and even otherwise, it doesn't start automatically.

But it's not about why it was screened, it's about how. There was nothing told to the person who posted it. It was screened and ninja'd away.

THAT is why we're outraged.

BAD idea. Seriously. I understand that there was logic behind your actions, but censorship in a post where people are already up in arms about censorship is about the worst idea I can think of.

Yeah, I agree now that you pointed it out -- I'm sorry I didn't think of that, I just fell back to the usual way of moderating comments in news. Totally my bad.

Y'know, you made a mistake and that's okay. Thanks for understanding and listening. At least to me, your apology is totally accepted. :)

That really worries me. Is it common practice to just screen and delete comments to the news? You say it like it is all too ordinary.
