This is where you lose me, Top Chef: All-Stars

Top Chef is the only competition show I watch. I used to watch Project Runway, before it became drama-filled garbage. I've been ambivalent about Top Chef in recent seasons as well, but I was really, really excited about Top Chef: All Stars. The challenges the first week were great. This week, I wanted to gouge my eyes out with a steak knife. I only ( Read more... )

Seriously. Like Top Chef is the only reality competition show I watch, but stuff like this? Ugh. Turning that off. Let's not forget that SEVERAL TIMES this season it has been mentioned that "Blaise really should have won instead of Stephanie" which is just annoying. LET HER HAVE HER WIN.

Yeah. Raw Eggs should have been the time to go. Or they should have thought up a less stunted challenge.

A few of my comments about the ep...

1- AMNH... I <3333 this place so much! I liked that they actually showed the museum a bit. Seeing it makes me want to go visit again.

2- Guys vs Girls... whatever... but the commentary, oh how editing skews things and can make it gross! Dale's comment about the Neanderthal looking like Casey in the morning... *gags*

3- Jamie is a selfish, annoying, and arrogant chef. Needing 2 stitches and you quit the competition? Seriously?!?! My mom watches Hell's Kitchen, and I know that one of the chefs completely burned his arms with second degree burns, and he STILL cooked dinner service. TWO stitches... HA!

4- Jen leaving... SNIFFS!!! Jen leaving over the idiots who cooked a raw frittata... GRRRR!!!!

Grrrrr... this whole top chef was frustrating. I was really hoping that All-Stars would be better than Sweet Desserts, which annoyed me to no end with all the drama... but URGH, maybe not.

And I just re-read this and I make almost no sense. Ha ha. Just insert agreement anf general dissatisfaction with how these shows are set up. I can't remember if one of Gordon Ramsey's recent (not Hell's Kitchen) shows had a woman win recently; women do sometimes win Hell's Kitchen, or more regularly than female chefs win on other shows. And that happens sometimes because of a strange situation where Ramsey is sometimes--I think, personally--a little bit of a pushover for a woman in early elimination rounds. It works to balance things out, but I'm not always sure it's for the reasons I want the non-eliminations to be, so I keep looking in that gift horse's mouth, if out of the corner of my eye.
