Yeah, I know I don't post anything here lately. Between studying various matters techish, working at the library, trying to find a job in Charlotte, delivering pizzas at night because the library doesn't pay me enough to both house and feed my family, and trying to actually work in some quality time with said family, I've been a bit busy ( Read more... )

If you take a chart listing all possible branches of IT, and you shoot it with a cartridge of full of birdshot...

Most of what I've done boils down to typical helpdesk fare, although I've picked up a lot of other incidental bits of experience along the way. I've done some UNIX/Linux administration, worked a bit with NT and Windows Server 2000, and worked a whole lot with Windows XP and 2000. Unfortunately, a lot of my experience involves making the most of a little on a very limited budget. We don't have an Active Directory server, and I've wound up playing a lot more with open source software than with the proprietary stuff that's more common in the business world. I have been studying for the CCNA, and have been playing with routers a lot* (and simulated switches). Oh, and I've only recently started to discover how cool VMWare is - haven't had a chance to play with Xen yet ( ... )

Looks like google docs is cooler than I'd previously realized. I've put up my resume, hastily converted with references and phone number redacted here.

2 questions --

I don't see any contact info on that link (?)

Er, does it matter where you do IT? I work for an adult content company that holds a 75% market share of the online business, but some people would prefer not to have that sort of thing on their resume. (And it's the distribution of, not the making of..)

But I'd be glad to at least get your resume on file here if they have anything.

if you haven't already looked, you might want to look at craigslist.org and see if there are any openings in charlotte. you might find some gigs specifically for your specialties.

and doesn't charles baker live down there? maybe look him up and see if he knows of any work.

good luck.

Charles actually lives in Greeneville, SC I believe.

I think he might be involved in some sort of pyramid scheme-ish sort of thing, which doesn't seem very Charles-ish to me. I only actually found this out by looking through my spam-filtered messages a few days ago.
