Is it weird to say to total strangers that you'd happily go for a walk with them? Well, he did offer, so - but well, it would be weird for me as I don't normally socialise with anyone outside of my own house, even though I might like to, and, well - wouldn't it just be so much simpler if they just decided who our friends would be from birth? I walk alone sometimes too. It clears my head from studying and sharing a dorm with Angelina. And Ursula.
I like spending time outdoors. I'd spend most of my time outside if I got the chance. And I like being active too, so generally a walk is an obvious choice. I mean, I could go for a run or whatever but you don't see so much then, I mean of the scenery and the animals and plants and things. Where do you like to walk? I think I like it by the lake best. I like skimming stones across it. Sometimes the Giant Squid catches the stones, like he thinks he's a dog with a frisbee or something.
The Giant Squid is actually rather gentle. Dennis Creevey fell out of his boat during sixth year no doubt because he was trying to catch a glimpse of Harry and it picked him up and put him back. I wouldn't quite describe it as being canine though.
I prefer to go through the gardens close to the Great Hall, but only on days where the weather is bad enough to dissuade the couples from being out there. Otherwise I walk towards Hagrid's cabin. I find the sight of smoke rising from his chimney and the pumpkin patches rather comforting. But he is not there at the moment, so, no smoke.
Oh, that was nice of it. It always seems really friendly to me. You're probably right that dog isn't a very good comparison, given that it's a squid. It's just nice to feel like it's playing with me when it catches them. I wish I knew what gender it was, it feels strange saying 'it.'
Oh, those gardens are beautiful. There's some really interesting flowers there, aren't there? I like to walk round there too, sometimes, but it is a bit busy not to mention embarrassing to see people kissing in all directions. I hadn't thought of the weather conditions actually, but it probably is less busy then. Maybe I will try that. Does anyone know where Hagrid is? Not that I don't like Professor Grubbly-Plank, she's very good.
