I want to start reading for pleasure again.

And I think that you should recommend books to me.

I second anything by Vonnegut, and Good Omens. Truly phenominal.

The Davinci Code- Dan Brown
or perhaps you've already read this, and if you enjoyed it, I would suggest the prequel to The Code--Angels & Demons, also by Dan Brown.

Oh my gosh, I love your icon. I covet it so much.

But yeah I agree with the person with the awesome Garden State icon. David Sedaris is a good selection...I think you'd enjoy Naked. I'll let you know how Me Talk Pretty One Day goes when I'm done with it. The Perks of Being a Wallflower I think you'd like and you can borrow my copy. Catch-22 by Joseph Heller is a hilarious read, but I just lent my copy to Tod. Catcher In the Rye is one of my all time favorites too.

everything palahniuk. i would suggest narnia, but i think you have that covered ;)

um... steinbeck. "to a god unknown" and "east of eden" are amazing. east of eden is huge and intimidating, but once you get into it, you can't put it down.

Cannery Row by Steinbeck is good, as well. And most people find Mice and Men very touching, though I didn't in particular.
