Personality:

If one wanted to summarize Michelangelo in a few choice words, those words would be "annoying," "childish" and "damn speedy." Considered the youngest of the four brothers -whether or not he actually is the youngest isn't the point- Michelangelo is the loudest, the most spoiled and the laziest. He also tends to be the dumbest, though half the time it seems more like a cry for attention or naivete rather than actual idiocy.

Michelangelo is a lover of toys, comics, video games and pretty much any kind of immature pastime one could think of. He's a superhero buff -even going as far as to create his own superhero alter ego- he collects comics, action figures and plays video games till his thumbs are raw. He also draws now and then, though most of the time it's all superhero related. He dances about like a fangirl if the Silver Sentry shows up, he babbles endlessly around the Justice Force; Lord. He is such a fanboy.

It's not just his adoration for comics that marks him as the baby of the family; he's undisciplined and makes the act of goofing off into an art. Occasionally he'll even outright ignore Splinter during training, unless he's directly spoken to (this, thankfully, is not a common practice, and isn't so much a sign of disrespect as it is a sign of him not really listening to anything besides the SFX of his Gameboy). He whines and complains when he has to train too hard, although he does that anyway whenever he's forced to do something he doesn't want to do. He almost never takes anything seriously; even a battle to the death is riddled with him playing around in battle, taunting his foes and cracking jokes at every opportunity. It's almost become his standard way of communication- he holds a conversation with quips, strange accents and pop culture references.

Mikey, also, gets pretty puffed up when he experiences success. He'll chatter on and on about how great he was, did you see how he smashed through the competition?, nyah nyah you can't beat Mikey! Those sorts of things. He'll throw his weight around even when he doesn't have the skills necessary to back it up, and if he gets in over his head he usually tries to slip out of trouble. He's only successful half of the time, though.

All in all? He's a spoiled brat.

...and then there's the flipside of the coin. Aspects of his personality that aren't nearly as obvious, whether that's intentional or not (highly unlikely that it is). Mike is renowned amongst his brothers for being dense, unobservant and even borderline stupid at times, and on most occasions he is. However, there are times when he has moments of sheer brilliance that have shocked said family; situations where he comes up with a great plan, or observes something important, or defeats a difficult foe. Nobody really knows where these moments come from; they seem a bit hit and miss. Splinter observed that Michelangelo had a natural inclination for the martial arts, but complained that his mind was ill-suited for it. While Mike snaps back with a joking excuse of "being a teenager," he later in that episode comes up with a great plan and, with the help of Splinter, takes out the two enemies that had threatened to kill them both, quite easily.

Skill aspect aside, Michelangelo is a very needy person; he loves attention and loves being loved. One of the reasons he makes his super hero persona is because he hates hiding in the shadows. He wants recognition and adoration for the good he does, and while one could view this as him being an attention whore (...which he is) it could also be pointed out that Michelangelo probably submerges himself in such human practices because he wants to be accepted. He also has an amazingly kind nature, if one can muscle past that spoiled attitude. He adopts a kitten he found in the snow and gives up his Christmas -his favorite time of year- so he can save a truckload of toys from some thieves and deliver them to the orphanage they were intended for. He's always the one to make fast friends with different people wherever they go, and it hits him hard to see those he loves hurt. He also looks up to his brothers despite all his hounding and bothering, and whenever he's in a serious pinch he'll ask himself what one of his brothers would do, rather than rely on himself.

Strengths: Physically, Michelangelo is in top form. He's been trained in the art of ninjutsu since he was very small, along with his brothers, and is very adept at fighting with a variety of weapons (though his specialty still remains the nunchaku). He's muscular and strong, but more importantly he's agile as hell. He's also very energetic, and even if he bitches and moans about being tired he can usually pop right up a second later and dash around like a jack russell on crack. He's an excellent swimmer -being a turtle and all- and basically just in great shape.

Mentally, he can be sharp if he manages to focus for half a minute. ...and he remembers stupid things like comic book issue numbers. But he's also got this very innate talent for finding the buttons that can absolutely infuriate someone and uses it to his advantage. While his taunting can seem like him just being a brat, he often uses it as a battle strategy so that his opponent flies into a fury and defeats themselves. This is how Mike usually defeats Raphael in their fights, be they serious or mock training sessions.

Emotionally, it's next to impossible to keep Mikey down. Even if he gets upset, angry or sad, he'll usually bounce back in no less than a day or two. It would take something absolutely crushing to break his spirit. He's also stubborn and determined as hell when it gets down to the wire; when push comes to shove, Mike will do his best to knock some punk ass down and put up a damn impressive fight doing it. He's one of those people that has a brilliant inner strength and all that.

Weaknesses: Even with a shell to protect him, Mike is just as susceptible to injury as any human. He can be shot, slashed, punched, even drowned. No super powers here, just a lot of working out.

Mentally- oh Lord. Well, the most glaring mental fault is Mike's absolute void of focus. He has some pretty severe ADHD problems; he can't hardly pay attention long enough to finish a conversation, let alone remain observant of his surroundings. He can't stay quiet to save his life -save for the rare occasion- and he has a very over-active imagination. Usually Mike can make a situation seem much worse than it really is just by applying his creativity to it in his own head. He's usually the first to panic and scream, flail about and generally make a terrified mess of himself. He's a spazz and that imagination tends to feed him not just distractions, but worst-case scenarios. His nightmares probably suck really hardcore.

Emotionally, Mike is immature and spoiled. He likes getting what he wants and he'll bug, wheedle and hound until he gets it. He dicks around, shrugs off training and lets his brothers pick up the slack. He'll joke when the situation isn't appropriate, he'll goof off when he should be aware of his surroundings, he'll bounce around and treat things like a game when he should be giving them more care. He also loves to annoy his friends and family when he's bored, and he is almost always bored.

Also, Michelangelo feels things very intensely. When he's worried he's anxious to the point of tremors, when he's angry he's furious, when he's sad he's devastated and when he's cocky he's the most arrogant son of a bitch you know. This can make him kind of moody at times, sort of unpredictable and honestly a headache to deal with.

First Person:

[Voice]

Shell it's cold. Brrr.

[The voice lifts to a whiny call.] Donnieeeeee, the heater's broken! [A pause, then even louder:] Dooooonnnnn! [When a stretch of silence serves at the answer, there's a low groan and the crunch of snow beneath a shifting body.]

Ow ow owwww. Feels like I got run over... Turtle roadkill. [A sharp intake.] Wh...where am I...? Is this Central Park?

[More crunching snow; the voice comes again, a bit more panicked than before.] Donnie? Raph, Leo? Master Splinter? ...April, Case? Anyone? ...Guys, this isn't funny. Seriously, it's really cold- I'm gonna freeze! ...I'll get sick and make you take care of me and fluff my pillows and make me hot chocolate! And then I get dibs on the remote until I'm better! I know you don't want that!

...g...guys?

Third Person:

Do not panic, do not panic, do not panic. Michelangelo wasn't sure if saying it in Japanese would make it some kind of powerful ninjutsu mantra, but it wasn't as if he knew how to speak Japanese anyhow. All he could do was chant it beneath his breath as he took in his surroundings with wide eyes -his bandanna was missing, his bandanna!- and wonder how in the world he ended up in Central Park in the middle of winter. Snow? It had been damn near sweltering last time he checked.

Either way he knew he couldn't last long in these kinds of conditions, so he set himself moving to keep warm. Rubbing his arms as he jogged through the wood, Michelangelo fought off the natural urge to lay down and close his eyes -hibernate, Don had said once, they would hibernate if they got too cold- and instead called for his brothers until he shouted himself hoarse. Fear clawed inside his stomach, sharp and relentless, and more than once he had to stamp it down in the interest of keeping his wits so that he didn't start running in circles, screaming like a lunatic. ...though that might keep him warm.

The nightmares from the day before were still fresh in his mind. Being chased by a revolting, twisted version of his oldest brother through a dark maze of caverns. Leonardo laughing as he moved in, the mass of flesh writhing red and sick on the side of his body, grin hungry and mad as he drew closer. Reaching for Michelangelo- the stench was horrible, overpowering, and the sounds of raw meat sliding and slithering over each other enough to make Michelangelo nauseous even now. He was laughing, not-Leo was laughing-

The terrain beneath his foot suddenly changed and Mikey almost slipped, giving a high shriek and windmilling his arms until he could leap back and away, landing into a crouch and staring at the ground as if it had reached up and attacked him. It was just a book; he'd stepped on a book and freaked out like a baby. Flushing in embarrassment, Mike drew closer and peered down at it. Michelangelo was printed neatly on the cover. "For me?" he wondered aloud, reaching down and shaking it free of snow before flipping it open. He was greeted with a myriad of voices and images, eyes widening before a grin slowly spread across his face.

"Cooooool."
