I saw my first gay Pride today. A lot of what I was expecting to see and a lot of surprises. I saw drag queens in lavish gowns, Spartan warriors handing out Trojan condoms, a naked elvis impersonator (which I guess is just a naked man with a ducktail hairstyle) bears, twinks, jocks, leathermen, parents and kids, Jack Layton dancing around on a ( Read more... )

Ok I suppose. My sister is a pretty big fag hag (something I pointed out to her on the phone) so I would have been surprised if she had been upset by it.

But she told me she loved me and it wasn't gonna change anything between us. She got a bit sad when she realized that I've been keeping this a secret for half my life and felt I had to keep it hidden and couldn't trust anyone with it. Think she wants me to tell some of my other family members so she doesn't have to be the only one carrying this secret, which is fair enough I guess.

But it's a big step and will maybe get this coming out process snowballing a bit more maybe...

Sounds like a carbon copy of my own coming-out to my sister (well, without the fag hag part); she was the first family member I told, and her reaction was almost identical to your sister's. I'm glad it went well, and I hope the rest of the process is at least as easy for you as it was for me.

Well I call her a hag simply cause her best friend is gay, she used to go out to gay bars with him and his friends on weekends, she lived with him and two other gay men for a couple of years, her date for the high school grad turned out to be gay, and topping the charts is her brother who she gets along great with is a mo. She may be a contender for biggest hag in Canada :)

But thanks. I knew she'd be ok with it, it's just some other relatives I'm worried about mostly on the male sides. But glad you had a positive coming out experience as well, your sister is lucky to have such a cool gay brother like yourself :)
