Harder than it looks.

  1. List your top five favorite musical artists.
  2. List your top five favorite songs from each artist
  3. Tag five people to do the same.

  1. Dar Williams
    1. What Do You Hear in These Sounds?

It is harder than it looks! Picking five artists out of all the ones I love was tough enough, but then narrowing down (or conjuring up) five songs was even worse.

Yes--with most of them, I could just put down half their work. It's a nice reminder, though, of the songs you really love the best.

As I read this the psychic random music setting came up with "Sequel" by Harry Chapin which is a sequel to "Taxi".

In the narrowing-down, I decided to go with the stuff I'm really listening to now. It's so hard to limit it to five!

She's a brilliant lyrcist--Thomas and I both really love her.

I first saw her in Ann Arbor when she opened for Arlo Guthrie! I have all of her albums, including Cry, Cry, Cry (a collaboration with Richard Shindell and Lucy Kaplansky).

Thomas's ex put us on to her years ago. We have a tendency to pull up the Dar playlist on long drives home, and sing along passionately--or discuss the lyrics like we were in English class. She was in LA last fall, and about six of us from the barony went to see her, at a little club across from Canter's.

We have the Cry Cry Cry album, too--The Ballad of Mary Magdalen just killed us, but we prefer James Keelaghan's version of Cold Missouri Waters. Are you familiar with him?
