I was just thinking of that poem about five minutes ago as I was looking through my scrapbook stuff for an embroidery book. (Long story, obviously.) It's one of my favorites.
I wish I had the patience for poetry. I have a book of Elizabeth Barrett Browning's sonnets, and it's like I have ADD. I can't even read them out loud.
Sorry I took so long to respond--I loved the synchronicity of both of us thinking of the poem at the same time.
It came up for us because of a James Keelaghan song, "I Would I Were", that Thomas sings and that reminds us of the poem, which is one of our favorites and kind of important to us personally.
Poetry is difficult in our ADD age. I think it's easier for Thomas and I because it's so tied in to music and song lyrics for us.
