infant deaths increase in the south

Yesterday, I was talking to some friends about Cuba's more advanced healthcare system, and DS mentioned that it's because Cuba not only as more doctors, a better educational system that helps more produce doctors, but it also has a better preventive approach so it creates less cause for treatment.  Check out this article below from NYT.  Infant ( Read more... )

those are def shocking stats. coming from memphis, TN (def "the south"), i def feel like i have seen pockets of similar communities around my city. although i'm abroad right now and see problems elsewhere in the world, it's so easy to forget that in my own country there are social injustices and disparities that still need to be fixed. thanx for putting this story out there and raising our consciousness

yup! especially when infant mortality is PREVENTABLE. there are so much resources in this country, but of course, the poor doesn't have access to them.
