Warning: Grammar. My first try on fantasy genre.
Her mantel locked the tremble of her body while she crouched down. Hands wrapped by light brown gloves, she put a bunch of blue lilies to the graves.
Her parents’ grave.
And lily was her mother’s favorite.
It was annual yet obligatory ritual for her to visit here in the winter, in the exact Christmas Eve. These past three years, she always spent a blissful night alone before her respectful parents’ bodies staying, in order to have not so lonely that so-called merry day, Christmas. Inside the wood behind the suburb church, in the very private graves, she always sat there for long in reminiscence.
It took around thirty minutes at least, for her eyes to turn wet in memories, and pushed a warm smile in last minute to face reality. Sending all the longing, she let her eyes shut to embrace the craving to hold their hands. One twined with mother, the other was with father, while she childishly in between. Walking together to buy candies, being hugged all the time until she was drown to sleep, waiting for Santa’s visit and precious gift, all mercies she could do with parents.
She actually ever did those things where she was kid, or at least before their parents died on that night mare. On their way home, car incident was occurred in drive away. It was fast, dark, uncontrollable, and horror to bear, to let backbone and muscle cracked and broken, and so blood flew and soaked in every inch of her skin, sending her to a long unconscious state.
She was seventeen when she survived.
She was still in high school to face a fact that on that precise Christmas Eve, God chose her mom and dad to be His angels in heaven.
To live with her grandmother in countryside for some months afterwards, she chose to be back to this town at the end, not eager to move out and let their parents spent all days alone. Although she lived and raised herself until this freshman year on college, she couldn’t stand to just sit here all time, and always visited her grand mom later for family time Christmas day.
Sudden movement approached.
She was set startled while a bray tinged her ears, her senses to go alert in same time her head tilted to the source inside the brush.
She was circled by the wood, a tame forest she couldn’t guarantee to be all save from animals, by the way. But at least, she never met one until this time.
The scrub voice effect was distinct by the second from the waggle brush, signaling there was something to hide there. Or to walk closer. She demurely hoped there was just a small cat being trapped, or just a home dog, or-
She jumped on her spot and fell to the ground, right there she was glued while her legs rejected to move a step. And there, she caught a creature appearing from that suspicious brush. Eyes widening to reflect an ultimate terrify, she lost all her steady breath just in one beat.
There was a four legs animal full of grey fur, as big as huge dog, as tall as her foot to her heart line. Sharp nose engraved to affirm its jaw, shaping a manly, yet killer intent, of-she gulped.
A wolf.
It kept staring at her on its place, not moving, not stepping a bit. It didn’t groan, growl, just silently stood before her. Not even showing its tusks, sharp teeth to slash and rip her skin in any minutes, it just stayed there for long minutes.
Watching it, she studied its next move to the war of her mind command to elope.
Their eyes locked.
And she was stunned.
It was hazel. Beautiful hazel eyes.
Strangely to her surprise, that wolf wobbled a bit and sat down instead of doing what she expected: attacking, then she died between her defense. Like a puppy to its own master, its deed shone a friendly intact on her.
Like it knew and liked her.
She gradually released half of her fear while the wolf was wagging the tail, odd behavior of a true, wild animal, indeed. Wolf was not homey favorite at all, and this one was an absolute wolf.
Her pant regularly went to normal, receiving a safe signal little by little. Her inhale grew steady.
Being shot by those peculiarly warm hazel eyes in, she felt herself to go out of suspicion.
This was okay. It’s save. That wolf is fine. Okay, calm down.
She would lie if she didn’t afraid at all, but the lie sounded bigger if she stated she didn’t want a companion this time. She didn’t say a thing about this wild wolf to be a friend, but she couldn’t also point what was so grizzly on this creature after she was mesmerized by those sincere hazel eyes.
She exhaled, controlling everything.
Setting to loosen up, breezy wind induced her arms to hug her own body while she turned to her original position, facing up the graves. And she let the wolf being there, three meters away of her, not bother to take an action. Still silent and watching her.
“Merry Christmas,” she muttered inside her little shaky voice to the effect of coldness. She said in intention to her parents, to herself, and sure, to the wolf which was still sending a quiet gaze over her.
Looked like silently giving in and reading her mind, the wolf sat there until the last second before she finally got off.
She stepped away, sending a goodbye smile at that grey wolf.
Before she finally running to it and let her hands muffled to its fur, rubbing it endearingly, like really meeting a funny puppy. The wolf licked her hands and all being calm by itself.
“Thank you for your companion.”
*&^%$#@
Six months later.
Seo Hyun’s hands were stuck on carrying her lecture-related books from shelves to her beloved desk at library. The book went up like a mountain in a base of her palm, to the top of it successfully covered half of her sight while she intent to walk steadily, but failed as she bumped into someone.
“I’m sorry.” She heard a voice to utter.
It was a guy, and he immediately crouched to help her set the crumbled books on the floor.
Seo Hyun joined him.
All she could catch were his slight tousled black hair, casual sky blue shirt and black trousers in a combination with a grey sling bag. Another college student, she was almost sure.
Then she caught his sudden silence after putting a book to another an inch away from her spot.
This guy paused his move for a time, looked like holding all his thought on his own.
She felt a bit strange but to the end, ignored it and just kept organizing the books.
“Thank you,” Seo Hyun said after all the books were on a perfect set to be carried, just by her own work by the way.
No response.
She incredulously searched for his face to meet up, but he still hold down his gaze on the floor. She raised his hands and tugged him.
And on that very second he clutched her hand in the air, startled by her action, finally caught her up in full-rounded eyes. Surprise and shocked.
And she swore, she just saw a pair of hazel eyes penetrating hers.
She was attacked by a familiar wave to make her body stunned and unmoving, reflexively glued on spot while she could feel a strange heat all over her body.
Even after he got off and left her in rush.
“Wait.”
His pace was halted for a second.
“Did I know you?”
*&^%$#@
Being intoxicated meant you can’t breath. Just to taste her smell, your blood rushed as a timbre of her voice huffs on you. The heat streams all over your skin to pinch your every organ and sense, and so your heart beat underneath your lively chest, it will jump and run like your forever cursed four legs running on underbrush.
And that was your fate to be once an addict.
A fate you’ll grip whenever you stand to continue life. A fate of choice in the end, when you are human.
“She’s here.”
Yong Hwa found Jung Shin in his class, cold tone and rigid face rimmed all over his expression. Terrified feeling could be drawn to his move.
The tall guy was preoccupied enough to scribble something, and just kept concerning on his work, “She’s who?”
“The Christmas Eve.”
Jung Shin literally stopped and met Yong Hwa’s determined gaze.
He then pushed Yong Hwa outside to have a private talk in a rush. Then he shot his friend with every inch of intimidating details. “Go on.”
“I smelled her.”
Jung Shin’s teeth clapped tighter while Yong Hwa’s face illuminated ghostly. They both looked even paler.
“That was too close, too vivid to deny.” Yong Hwa described in the tense.
Jung Shin shook his head after digesting the sentence, denying, “You might be wrong.”
“You doubt my sense?” He protested in disbelief. No one’s sense could be wrong in that very close distance, she swore for death.
Jung Shin closed his eyes to seek another possibilities, “Never once, Hyung. Your sense is perfect. But maybe you’re just being so delusional, or hallucinating, or-“
“She saw my eyes.”
The younger jaw dropped. To his very surprise, this was beyond his imagination. Trouble, god damn trouble. He let out a hollow laugh in response. “Don’t tell me she recognized you.” was all Jung Shin muttered in a husky hiss, the worst possibility over the worst.
The silence Yong Hwa posed indicated a doubtful answer. They exchanged glare, asking for explanation versus a warning gaze.
“Eyes never changed. When you’re human or not.”
And so instinct never changed, when he’s human or not. Her scent was so irresistible and could defeat any mistakes.
Jung Shin finally sighed, attempted to respond cool, at least calm upon this matter.
“Fine. Get a grip. Don’t let it get your nerve.”
He patted Yong Hwa’s shoulder to send a friend support, but those shaking fingers of him talked more of fear. Jung Shin flashed a nervous smile, and Yong Hwa knew it was all fake, just a part of his denial to register a fact.
Yong Hwa held his glare on Jung Shin who started to go back to class with little wobbly steps.
“I felt it.”
Yong Hwa’s stern determination induced the younger male to stop in wide eyes, horrified, all in understanding.
“My fate is coming.”
*&^%$#@
What he did afterward was forever out of control.
He followed her trace from school to her home unknowingly, making sure to smell her path, getting all addict and craving to all of her lingering scent in the air she just passed. It was done stupidly because he couldn’t control his nose to suck her remaining odor particles greedily, his strong sense got definitely overwhelmed.
Until he finally stood right before her gate to pitifully curse his own self in vain. She already went inside two minutes ago.
He closed his eyes of the matter of scolding his dumbness.
But he was in ultimate mistake. Closing visual ability meant getting another senses to sharpen, and her very distinct smell attacked his nose to further addiction, seducing him in every way. He breathed, inhaled and exhaled to the aroma. Until it went vague and indistinct, gradually vanished.
Oh, no, right now it’s becoming so stronger.
He jumped out while the scent suddenly got to the highest concentration level to burn his nose.
“Do you look for me?”
A soft woman voice streak his ears, sending the impulse to his eyes to open in one flip.
She stood there. Hair was tightened in a bun, exposing her long, flawless neck. She wore matching soft pink shirt and shorts, and to her sparkle eyes, she was searching for his answer.
Yong Hwa was blinked to be spot on off guard. He managed to politely have a leave and pretended nothing happened and he was just being lost in her neighborhood and all, but what his voice took a control was saying, “Hi.” in a very nervous tone, he swore for good.
She broke into a friendly smile, “You’re from the library, aren’t you?”
Her to-the-hell smell was too good to be ignored, until he felt dizzy in sucking. He was failed to register her question at the end, “Hm?”
She looked all peaceful and sincere, “I remember you.”
He snapped out.
Shit.
Another attempt to leave at this point before she got suspicious made him got an extreme thrill, but nothing happened as his body rejected to move away.
She began to rub her arms then hugged herself to send a little heat, “Don’t you feel cold?”
The way her skin being molded and exposed could successfully distracted his concentration. “Not really,” he wondered what expression he wore in this very second. His still focused fully on her.
“Do you want to go inside?”
Yong Hwa was sunk. This girl was forever seductive.
All that he wanted in this time was being her side all days long, to grab her and uncover her clothes to finally expose his very addictive scent evaporating from her pores, so he could freely inhale the odor in no time. He loved how his blood dilated and rushed to color his pale skin in excitement in smelling. He wouldn’t mind anything, except her. That was all he could confirm himself at this state, to have and feel her.
“I know you’ve waited for me outside for some time. I’ve observed you on my second floor window.” She pointed a glass window over her home, made Yong Hwa to just formally take a peek.
He absentmindedly nodded in understanding. “Don’t you afraid of a stranger?”
She let silence to fill the air before breaking into a soft laugh, “Yes. But not a stranger like you.”
He threw a puzzled look. What kind of stranger I am?
She started a step to her main door, signaling him to come closer. Yong Hwa followed behind naturally, like a guy under the spell that could follow the magic any time.
She gripped the door handle and stopped there, turning to face him with smile, “Your eyes. They’re so friendly and adorable.”
*&^%$#@
So she studied Natural Science and still on his year. Seo Joo Hyun, or Seo Hyun, was so attractive and bright in any side. Even with that soft yet cheerful face to draw guys madly in action to get her along, the way she talked was cute, and not to mention her cautious and thoughtful manner, it was his favorite. She loved piano and music to even take a part on recitals and concerts since kid, a fan of keroro and Johny Depp, hitting on classic and ballads genre.
He told her that he lived at another side of country, the suburb near the wood, houses away from the church she always visited for years in Christmas Eve. He wouldn’t make up everything just to set her less suspicious. And with her comment on that voice afterwards, he knew she just found a pleasant connection between them.
“Oh, so you live there. You know the graves inside the woods? A couple?” She drew an excitement on her face. They sat face-to-face in living room, two glasses of tea on the table.
Of course I know. Better. Yong Hwa nodded just for formality.
“That’s my parents.” A bitter smile flashed on her.
He discovered her very lonely at this state, living alone in this house under parents’ imagination and longing would be so hard.
“Hey,” Yong Hwa started, “You can visit my home then we can go together to see them. I mean, your parents. You always go there alone, don’t you?”
Seo Hyun let out a melodious laugh, “How do you know?”
Yong Hwa snapped, for some seconds getting struck how to respond. “Feeling.”
Seo Hyun put a warm smile on her face, got off from his seat, “I want to show you something.”
He then walked behind her, together they went upstairs. There was a small corridor with frames and photos hanging on the wall. To the end of it, a bedroom door made an appearance, stating “Seo Hyun” on the door leaf to indicate the owner.
“My father. My mother.” Seo Hyun introduced their parents’ pictures to Yonghwa, a photo of a couple. One was a lady with Seo Hyun’s hair and her warm smile, almost all her face resembled her mother. Meanwhile her father kept the same eyes of her, sparkle and innocent.
Then there were a stack of pictures being taken while she was child, teenager, young adult, and until this time. Almost all with her parents, in many various places.
“I excuse going to bathroom for a bit. Don’t you mind?” She asked with a fool grin on her face.
Yong Hwa nodded with a smile. Then she disappeared behind her bedroom door.
So he spent the rest of time after her leaving by examining all those captures of her. Being drown to all of her happy smile and soft look. He inhaled strongly to suck her remaining scent in the air around, imagining he was by her side in all those places on frames. He finally could discover what made him so crazily addicted and easily seduced.
Her smell was so human.
He followed the trace of her odor and found her bedroom leaf on open air. His instinct naturally led him to enter, so he found his steps to be inside her room in just a beat.
It was medium room with all pink colored smear, girly style accessories hanging around the wall, book shelves covered one sided of it, and-his heart beat stopped.
To catch his picture. Hanging beautifully right on the wall beside her bed, someone ever drew him in detail.
He froze, eyes dilated, not able to even move a finger. Every neurologic impulse stopped to work on his body, letting him being statue.
“It’s my wolf.”
He could hear Seo Hyun approached his standing, sentencing a tender tone.
He couldn’t, he didn’t know, he was clueless, how to respond.
“My first friend on Christmas Eve since my parents’ death.”
What so-called friend on Christmas Eve was a wolf with a grey fur, quite big, and sparked hazel eyes. Stood there with a background of woods, and sat on white snow. The wolf looked having all that nature of earth and ground ally, a true animal.
He got rigid. To this very second he was all those under a strong urge to escape, yet to regret what he actually did on last Christmas Eve when they ever met.
How his instinct lied and brought him to her presence.
Right there he was all seduced by her odor. Once a wolf, his smell sense enhanced sensibility two till three times higher. He could guess what so came just by light smell, at least one kilometer away to his spot. But when he was wrapped up in human body, all those instincts and abilities then grew weaker.
Just being a wolf, Seo Hyun could drive him to find her, and stayed still, not moving, presenting his form as not-human to her.
“What do you think? Is it male or female?” She broke.
“Male.” Yong Hwa blurted out in reflex, “Definitely.”
He could hear she let out a satisfied chuckle, “I guess so. He’s handsome, isn’t he? I wonder what he looked like if he’s a human.”
Yong Hwa swallowed in very nervous way. A pound kicked his gut. The lump inside his throat got bigger, concluding a difficulty on breathing.
“Who drew this?”
“Me.” Seo Hyun turned to face him, who still stuck on the picture for like never ending minutes. “I think I’m falling in love with a wolf.”
He finally shifted his gaze to her after a second he felt her shot towards him.
Falling in love with a wolf.
That sentence induced his heart to kick his chest.
Their eyes finally met and clawed each other’s stare.
He could feel the weight on her gaze, especially while she stepped closer with that determined look, and raised her hand to send a heat from her palm to his cheek.
Yong Hwa felt huge jolt to spasm all of his muscles.
“The reason why I drew him-“ Her breath became shorter, her voice turned to a whisper, and her scent smeared to attack his nose in very overwhelming way. “Because these hazel eyes.”
She locked him right there, pointing his absolute hazel eyes.
He could also feel how madly she wanted to embrace his eyes. He realized her possession on his rounded, special colored eyes. She was driven with the same obsession as he was not in right mind by her heavenly odor.
Her sparkle eyes reflected the desperation to catch his gaze, how much she wanted to own his eyes.
What he did afterward was giving in, letting the feeling to attack and bombard with a rush on his bloodstream, to the race of his heart beat, and to the tinge on his nerves.
Their locked eyes brought his lips to shove hers.
It went deeper as she startled on her spot before finally released the stiffness and got tender, replied him naturally.
He closed his eyes to the taste of strawberry while he licked her lips’ surface, almost bit it out uncontrollably. To the addiction of her unforgivably odor particles burning his nose, he pulled her to press against him in pleasure, wanted more and more, having her and no one else.
Seo Hyun encircled her arms on his neck to give full focus to their face, also sending her obsession. Yong Hwa knew she was excited like him.
He snatched her lips again while she paused to suck a breath between their heated kiss, before he locked her again in one beat, being all hungry and craving to death.
His lips pressed hers, almost eating all those pursed of hers by his mouth. His tongue clashed her teeth before she finally opened her brace up, letting him adventuring her inner mouth. Seo Hyun moaned, and gave him a tongue good battle in the end.
He stopped to see her expression. He swallowed her taste, and she shot him desperately in wet and red swollen lips. Their silence talked a lot, what a next step they unquestionably craved.
He couldn’t handle the rush of his blood anymore. While he unbuttoning his own shirt, Seo Hyun raised his hands to send a help. Breath grew faster and shorter, as he watched her uncontrollable hormones rose, so with him. He grabbed her shirt and crumpled it from waist to up after himself getting in a bare chest, over her head, finally being released from covering her body.
Her odor, God, Seo Hyun.
It ache his sensory for good, too strong to handle, too precious not to suck in, in a time her skin pores evaporated every particles of her loop on him.
She jumped to him while he received her legs nipped his waist. He carried her along with those clipped and joined lips, to her bedroom, and fell her down.
He was above her while he slid down to track her neck with his lips and sucked every spot he arrived, smoothly go down to her clavicule, shoulders, forearms, until her belly. If that was heaven, he absolutely would describe that word to this state: Seo Hyun’s scent spread freely, engulfing him in her aroma and her molded, creamy, very smooth skin to brush his skin. He knew he was starve of their bare contact, skin-to-skin, feeling her blood rush made him to furiously go deeper, and intense.
He paused to pull her bra down and threw it away, exposing her bare chest.
Yong Hwa couldn’t stand any control anymore when he shoved her breast and ran his lips there.
She growled desirously beneath him, her hands fixing his head to go deeper, not letting him detached the contact.
He howled a human moan, not a wolf roar he assumed to take a part.
“Yong Hwa, you-“ Seo Hyun attempted to find her coarse voice, sweat drenched on her necks after all the heat, “You smell so-“ She panted hard to his sucker mouth on her breast. She moaned.
Yong Hwa slowed down and rubbed his head to her chest, “Hm?”
“Woody. And earthy.” Seo Hyun swallowed by the words, controlling her jumping heart beats. Yong Hwa looked at her, “Just like my wolf.”
He flashed a lopsided smile hearing her sentence.
Yong Hwa got up a bit, arms on each other’s side of her lying head. And there, he found on her face, a longing and loneliness.
“Seo Hyun,” He could hear his voice went tender, hazel eyes locked hers. His breath was brushing off her skin while he collected all the honesty to say, “I want you.”
Silence.
What she muttered afterwards was a surprise reply, “I want you, too.”
Yong Hwa found himself shocked for a second. Before he jumped into reality, “I’m a stranger.”
“You’re just college student like me.” She insisted.
“You don’t know anything about me.”
She shot him with thirsty desire, “Then I’m going to know you in future.”
He kissed her in rush, and she kissed him back.
“I’ll do whatever you want.” Yong Hwa blurted, under her spell, under her smell, under her tainted smile and body and warmth that drove him always like crazy dumb guy. He never experienced such a thing in his life.
Seo Hyun run his finger on Yong Hwa’s chest, tracing the imaginary line out there, “Then don’t stop.”
He could read what she meant specifically when she grabbed the rim of his trousers, signaling a thing.
“Are you sure?” He whisper, voice heavy.
Her determined nod looked so insecure and brittle, yet so distinct and explicit. He shot her with a gaze, excited yet guilty, craving but strained.
Evening drew a yellow cast outside, coloring the sky to dim the twilight, polishing the shine of their bare skin through glass window.
I’ll have you.
Down, down, they broke until no fabric left. Down, down, giving in everything to the joined of two bare intertwined bodies.
Author's Note:
Hi :) I'm in my attempt to write another short shots I don't master at all (I'm still learning, nonetheless). Fantasy. To be honest, I'm not a fan of this genre, really, but I tried to challenge myself into something new :)
And about the warewolf thing, basically that winter concept came from a Maggie Stiefvater's novel "Shiver". It told about a winter warewolves: changed to be a wolf at cold temperature, and being a human at summer, hot tempterature. Quite different from Twilight while a warewolf shifted to be animal while they're getting too emotional and angry.
Truth to be told, I super love reading non-AU fanfics like, what yongseo doing in real life as SNSD's Seo Hyun and CN Blue's Yong Hwa, but uh *scratches head* I always end up too cheesy or too angsty while I've tried to write it one *cries*.
I hope this one could make your days better. And ah, I'm still on my work writing the next part :) It will come soon after my exam day on Thursday, I hope XD
And don't worry, I'm not planning to dump A Pencil on The Melody at all LOL. This is just for a little escape :p
I hope I can hear your thought. Critics or just a word will be so meaningful :)
Thank you.
