Pairing Meme, Day 9

I've been a slacker.  Sorry :( but, you know.  Baby, work, etc.  And also, apparently I'm having a fight with my sister-in-law, which has been a super emotional drain and made me feel about 15 years old.  Apparently I screwed up her birthday because I went and had a baby and then I couldn't find a baby-sitter on 2 days' notice and so she couldn't ( Read more... )

Hey, you. (I actually saw you on g-chat earlier and started saying hi and then you went away, LOL.)

Man, I hear you on so much of this, though I don't have the excuse of a baby. I have been mondo depressed (like, last weekend I couldn't stop crying and my sister and I had a talk about me going to a therapist), and super busy, and just...yeah. Yesterday I just went ahead and did this:

It must be going around...the depression, busy, no writing thing. Sorry about the sis-in-law. Does she have kids? I still don't have a reliable sitter, but am happy in now having a teen who can watch the little one. Yay! I got to go out for my anniversary!
At least this will work for a few years...until girlfriends and jobs and then college. But by that time #2 will be old enough to stay on his own!

I left fandom for ten years or so when the kids were small. Wish I hadn't but it's a busy busy time. And I still fall off the planet when things get crazy. I've only been writing a few years but man I miss it when I stop. I'm having even more trouble reading fic than writing it though.

I never watched Will and Grace but that man has a darn pretty smile.

Will was gorgeous. :D :D :D

No, my sister-in-law doesn't have kids. She's been living on her own for less than a year. And she's very used to getting what she wants when she wants it and how... I think she loves her niece but is, consciously or subconsciously, displeased with no longer being "the baby of the family."

Happily, we've been getting Leah to bed pretty consistently by 8:30 every night for about the past week, so if I plan for it and I'm not too tired, I can have an hour or so to myself to write before going to bed. And right now I'm checking my LJ while she naps instead of doing the dishes, which technically need doing, but you know... right now I need to relax. :)

Consistent bedtime is good! You know, my younger son didn't sleep through the night until he was five? seven? years old. He's nine now. Towards the end it was only once a night and you could just tell him to go back to bed, but early on? I think I went a little nuts from interrupted sleep.

I was listening to Wind in the Willows earlier this week and this passage made me think of you, and of finding time to write.

"Its been quite a long time since you did any poetry," Mole remarked."You might have a try at it this evening....I've got an idea you'll feel a lot better when you've got something jotted down--if it's only just the rhymes."

The Rat pushed the paper away from him wearily, but discreet Mole took occasion to leave the room and when he peeped in some time later, the Rat was absorbed and deaf to the world; alternately scribbling and sucking the top of his pencil. It is true that he sucked a good deal more than he scribbled; but it was joy to the Mole to know that the cure had at least begun."

Keep sucking that pencil, girl.

Heee so cute! Thanks. And cookie dough? Nom nom nom!

I got your story and read it, and I'm hoping Leah stays napping long enough for me to sort through my e-mails and leave you notes. *fingers crossed*
