Oh, indeed.
I'm not giving up on getting a reference from him, for sure - it'll be very helpful in getting _any_ university place, but it still remains that I'm not going to UCL...

UCL didn't want me, either... Which is odd, since they really liked me in the interview, and they already knew all my grades and such. I'd've thought that if they were going to turn me down, they'd've done it before bringing me in.

Call him. People can't so easily be lazy or fob you off when you're talking at them down the phone. References are useful things, don't let him get away from being one. Bad Simon Archer! Would there be anyone else you could ask for a uni reference, maybe someone on a particular course who might remember you?

Not because of anything in their decision-making process, just because the delay to proceedings due to the reference has meant that I am on the super-late-application path which Nottingham University (my second choice) subscribes to, but UCL doesn't.
Sad, but there you go.
