That's a damn tough choice. If you've waited for years to study a particular subject, then having to study something else could be very demoralising. My dad took a degree in molecular science in the (mistaken) belief he would learn about dna and evolution and stuff; when the bubble burst he found he hated his subject and spent the three years dossing and got a bad grade as a result. OTOH if you are at all social, not having access to your mates could have the same effect. But at least you could commute to the latter; and you might meet new people you like in Nottingham; and Nottingham isn't as grim as you're making out! (though I expect you know about Nottingham, given that you live in Derby).
Good luck with it either way. I hate waiting for this kind of thing.
The only point I'd make, is to seriously consider whether being at Kings would mean you saw more of your london friends than if you were in Nottingham. It's the same logic that leads people who live a 5 min walk from work to be late every morning, proximity isn't necessarily the key. Obviously if you were at IC, you'd see us more, but is the difference between you not being here, and being in Kings/Notts that different? I make no sense I know, but do what's right for you, we will all see you more, wherever you go, well only if you want to that is.

I dunno if that helps, but it's worth mentioning, nonetheless ^^;;
Seriously, we all miss you... But if you have free travel, it's not such a big deal, I guess.
Still, if you do go to Nottingham, you must promise to come visit me regularly!

Besides, it's the right degree and it's cheap, so you won't have to work as hard to support yourself the way you did in London.
