Part 2 of yesterdays post....

So you remember the Toshiro Mifune piece right?
In order to place it into my portfolio it had to be applied to something. It had to be used in a advertisement, or in a poster, on a t-shirt or in a package design.

I decided to go with the last option and designed a sake label to make use of the illustration.

I really like this! So does Shane, who was a graphic designer back in the day, so he should know good stuff when he sees it!

How long was he a designer? Does he still do anything along those lines (and can I see his work?) =D

He went to DAAP for undergrad and then worked as a designer for 1-2 years before going to grad school (when you and I both met him). He only does stuff under duress or for friends these days, but he worked on some of the wayfinding and scrims at Soldier Field and McCormick Place in Chicago. I should make him post the invitations he just did for our friends' wedding, though - the whole package is pretty great.
