Today...two movies and a nice dinner out...

I went to two 3-D movies. The latest PIRATES OF THE CAR. movie - the fourth in the series, based on a Tim Powers novel. It was fun, and well worth the time and money, and if you go to it, you really DO want to stay till AFTER the closing credits (an Easter Egg awaits...:-)). The only fault that I could find with this movie that I'll put down

The last movie chorale and I saw in a theater was Thor, which wasn't bad. I had read that it had a sharp break in the storyline halfway through, but it didn't look like that to me; everything that happened in connection with the big fights after Thor was exiled to Earth seemed properly foreshadowed in the previous scenes. It was a fairly good capture of the Marvel Comics feel. I was bemused by the handwave that Thor and Odin and Loki were members of advanced civilizations whose science was mistaken for supernatural powers by primitive Vikings, but I suppose the filmmakers didn't want to try to explain the concept of a mythological god to the mass audience.
