My foray through my discount Paramount+ subscription continues with ST: PicardMy interest in this is much more nostalgia driven than my interest in Star Trek in general, because ST:TNG was my true entry point to Trek, even though I did watch TOS shortly before it TNG started. even with a ten episode arc focusing on one big story, there's so much that's skipped over or forgotten
Oh, my gosh, yes! Picard has this even worse than Discovery! I love the characters, but this season just lurched around like a starship without a pilot, or one with battling pilots!

SPOILER WARNING FOR ANYONE READING THE COMMENTS WHO HASN'T SEEN THE SEASON:

I was very disappointed with the last episode of the season. (I should make my own posts about these shows!) But I'll keep watching, because I love Seven, and Picard, and I treasured every appearance of old friends. I didn't even like Riker when I first watched TNG, but somehow he grew on me when I wasn't looking (like a fungus or something ( ... )

The ending was just... ugh. So we have our Data descended synthetics placing a call to some ancient synthetic culture that starts coming through a portal looking like an Elder God straight out of Lovecraft, and once the beacon is destroyed, it's like a dropped call? One that Synth!Cthulhu isn't going to follow up on ( ... )

I think Seven was my favorite part of the whole season. I didn't know the hand-holding thing was from the actors; I thought it was from the writers.

Q is usually a screen hog-the exception being his brief cameo in Lower Decks, which had me screaming with laughter. Now I could live with that for Picard! Have I mentioned recently that my favorite Q scene involves Sisko? "You hit me! Picard never hit me!" "I'm not Picard."

I want more of the regulars! Especially the women!

I liked Seven back in her Voyager days, but the catsuits were always frustrating. Also frustrating was the last minute "Seven and Chakotay are dating!" which was basically came out of nowhere ( ... )
