This Is It

So, I saw "This Is It" tonight.

So, pretty much within the first two minutes of the movie, I was holding back tears. This feeling did not go away for the whole movie. I only legitimately cried once, but we'll get to that.

I don't remember everything, so I'll touch on what I can recall.

The first thing that struck me was his voice. It was still amazing. He sounded just like his record. And he just...sang. He loved it, you could tell. Same with dancing. He could still move, and even though he was getting old, it was still unbelievable, and totally fluid. He looks so natural, it's like he was born to move like that and sometimes it looked completely improvised.

Another thing about him is that he cared about every little detail that went on in his show. He was there going through the dance moves with the back-up dancers, going through the tiniest details in the music with the band, and even showing up to watch the animation being produced for his background videos. And he knew exactly what he wanted and he cared about it. He wanted the show to be perfect for his fans. He was a perfectionist, and it obviously paid off.

Another thing was he knew his music, and just music in general. He was invested in making sure every instrumentalist was playing it exactly how it needed to sound. In one scene he was asking the guitarist to play a note, and he sang the note, exact pitch, and got the guitarist to play it back. He knew rhythms and notes and everything. He knew the effect of a great pause, and of a hard-hitting note.

He just cared. I really think that was the over-arching message of the movie. He cared about everything that went on in the show. He cared about all the singers, the production people, the dancers, everyone, and that really came across in the movie.

He was a visionary. The ideas he came up with for this show were amazing, and new and unlike anything anyone had ever done before. He was pushing the boundaries of pop music even into his 50's. He has been performing since he was just young kid, and yet he was still able to think of new and fresh ideas.

So, I'm really terrible at...wrapping things up. And I don't wanna ramble for like ten hours, haha. Moral of the story:

GO SEE IT, OH MY GOD.

edit: lmao, I forget to add the part where I cried.
They did a big group hug/motivation/pep talk, and when Michael was talking to the whole crew...it was too much to handle. I sobbed.
