Harry and Niall have had the most stable relationship in the band. They love each other and sleep together when they're not in relationships with other people. There's no jealousy or hiding feelings; they are completely drama free, which baffles Zayn and Louis who have more tumultuous relationships.

Harry and Niall are "on again" for the world tour, and after Liam's second break up with Dani he finds himself hanging out with Harry and Niall constantly, enjoying being around a relationship that just works effortlessly.

Up to the filler how this progresses, maybe they don't bother kicking Liam out of their room before they start having sex and he watches. Maybe they ask him to join in for an evening. Maybe both.

TLDR: Harry and Niall are awesome at casual relationships, Liam wants in on that somehow.
