I am now a member of the working class again. Finally. I wnet in for an interview yesterday at a bar/restaurant called Manhattan's. About an hour later I returned and was asked to stay for training. About two hours later I went home, then came back in at 5:30 for my shift which I didn't get off of until nearly 1 in the morning. I'm a dishwasher. A ( Read more... )

Congrats on the new job! That is awesome, and you must have impressed them to hire you on the spot.

There is no shame in working as a dishwasher, actually once you find the right shoes you might enjoy the zen like qualities it has, if you don't then you can work your way up to server or cook or something else.

Best of all, you will be able to pay your rent!

I think I may actually make more by being a dishwasher than I would a server. They live mainly on tips. Though, they also work more hours than I do, but I don't think I could deal with that... My dad did it for seven years and he enjoyed it, but I'm not that much of a people person.

you have to be able to be playful with people to be a server, so perhaps it might not be the best for you hee he

Exactly, no shame in being a dishwasher. It's a job, and a starting point, and you'll soon discover that you'll have a lot of freedom as compared to most of your fellow employees. You don't have to impress anyone.

Most importantly, it's a starting point, not your career. Congratulations! Don't get too comfy!

Tell me about the freedom. I only work three days a week right now, which gives me a lot of spare time to do things like... Find a better job. -chuckles-

Hey, as long as you've got something that'll help pay the bills while you keep your eyes open for something better. There's no shame/harm in being a dishwasher! Heck, I'm sticking with my crap job while looking for something better myself. *L*

But hey! Congrats on being able to find something!

There really isn't any shame in being a dishwasher - and this comes from a guy who's been tech support, a janitor, a telemarketer, a door-to-door salesman, and is currently a gas station attendant, so trust me... I know crappy jobs. Don't worry, you'll find something better and you'll get through this. I believe in you, Kitten.
