"They're all afraid I'm going to break."
Katherine smirks. She didn't come back to Mystic Falls to be friends with her now-eternal doppelganger; she just wanted to watch everyone lose their fucking minds over her. She's not really even sure how Elena knew she was back. It doesn't matter. She's here, standing slumped, positioned in front of the mirror so Katherine can see the mess of her hair in its entirety.
"You're not surprised, are you?" Elena says nothing. (Of course.) After a long moment, Katherine sighs. "What do you want?"
"Show me..." She hesitates, then squares her shoulders, straightens to her full height. "Show me what you would have shown them."
Katherine doesn't even try to hold back her smile.

It isn't at all like looking into a mirror.
(And thank god, because what a fucking cliché that is.)
Elena is savage in her hunger, in her inexperience, the blood dripping down her chin when she releases the man to let him crumple at her feet. Her tongue darts out to catch a drop at the corner of her mouth as she looks down at him, the blood receding from her eyes to be replaced by something else.
"Had enough?" Katherine asks. She's leaning against the wall, careless, observing and intervening only when it becomes clear that Elena is at a loss.
Elena takes a shuddering breath before meeting Katherine's eyes. "Is it ever enough?"
The air between them is dense with the words Katherine doesn't speak.
Elena presses her lips together, smearing the blood still there.
"Let's go."
Katherine turns without waiting to see if Elena is following.
(She will.
There is still so much she needs to see.)
