Argh. You make me want to write fic! It's kinda crazy to see fic where Isabelle is Sark's kid and then read stuff like this too. Hee. *shrugs* That's fandom.
I like how you kept the second POV narrative from the song and put it in the story. I kinda like how you have Isabelle being resentful of Sydney too, building the blocks and chasing after Sark. Her time will come.
I would love to hear the song. Mind uploading it for us? Thanks.
You completely had me convinced that this was Syd/Sark especially with the following: For you are your mother’s, but not your mother, as she never was her own.
This felt like Irina so much to me, so for it to be revealed as Sydney and the main character Isabelle?
*is floored*
This is fantastic my dear. Now I am craving more adult!Isabelle fic.
I'm so glad to see more of your writing again. It was sorely missed.
Oh! And...*heh*...really, I meant all of the above and was not trying to butter you up but, would you be interested in some beta work? I've also written Alias for the first time in AGES, but don't have an Alias beta anymore. Would you be interested in taking a look at it? It's Alias, post "I See Dead People," but with spoilers up through the finale. Jack/Nadia...sort of.
Glad you liked it. It wasn't my plan to throw readers off track w/ the "You are your mother's..." line, but a little bit of subterfuge is never a bad thing, right? I think I like Isabelle because she has so much potential, since she is such a blank canvas, but nearly impossibly to "Mary Sue" as she is a Bristow woman. Thanks so much for your kind words (and rec - *blushes*). Normally, I'd definitely volunteer myself as a beta - I'm beyond flattered - but work is really stressful right now, as I train and prepare for my big move and promotion at the end of the summer, and I know that I just don't have time. Sorry - but I can't wait to read it! "30 Seconds" (I think that was the ep) got me *so* back into Jack/Nadia - I was really pissed they killed her off! BTW - I LOVED the Hermione/Baron fic you posted. Your Hermione reminded me so much of isolated first year Hermione, but with this distance and sadness and almost irrelevant wisdom now. *Heartbreaking*.

Word! I mean, even the finale gave us little hints as to how she's being compared to Sydney, and in that way to her Irina. I think this is a great point.
And no worries on the Jack/Nadia thing. I completely know what it's like to be overwhelmed (I've got my masters comps in three days. Eeek!) so I'm very much in the same situation. The story is even going to be put on the back burner for at least a week. But thanks so much for letting me know.
And...I can't take credit for the Baron/Hermione fic. It IS wonderful, but that was a rec of one of inell's stories, not mine. It's interesting because she's a writer who is known in the HP fandom as a someone who writes reliably enticing "smut," but over the past year she's been doing more introspective work and the results have really been wonderful. I totally suggest reading more of her work!
I am so warming up to Sark/Isabelle...I love that she stole the picture from Dixon's file, that this thing for him has been building up for so long for her. With Isabelle Sark can finally get what he never had with Sydney and Irina...there are so many possibilities. So great, thank you for sharing!
Seriously, I am loving the amount of Isabelle/Sark there is out there. I'm so gonna work on a sequel to mine after this - you have totally inspired me. I love how you can see three generations of Derevko women in her - and beautifully written as always.

I just can't *not* think of her as a culmination and combination of all of them: Irina, Elena, Katya, Syd, Nadia; throw Jack in for good measure... she is a force. Or will be. Or could be.

I hear you... considering I've written one! And to be honest, until Isabelle kissed him, she could've been his kid in this story, too.
Here's a link to the song. Weird thing is, while there are lyrics for it (as above,) it is actually instrumental. Very strange. Anyway:
'Exchange' by Massive Attack
Thanks so much for the feedback!

I mean, very, very cool. I wouldn't have thought I'd like this as much as I do. Thanks.
