So, I was doing some reading for one of my classes, and the chapter was about those leveled books teachers use in early elementary classes. At the end of the description of all the levels, there was a little blurb about how the levels aren't exact and are always being revised based on teacher feedback. *shrug* They gotta rope you in early. :P

I guess commercialization doesn't bother me...I get company plugs in class regularly. We have one lab that's got big banners for BAE Systems hanging, because they donated a bunch of money for it. And we routinely have guest speakers in classes who throw in plugs for their company. And lots of things have corporate sponsors.

Of course, it's a little different, because these companies are trying to get us to come work for them after graduation, not sell us stuff.

Yeah, and when you guys graduate, those people will be paying you gobs of money, not competing with you for funding.

Senator #1: "Hmmmmm, should we use this money to buy this set of books books or pay teachers? We certainly can't do both!"
Senator #2: "I've got an even better idea! Let's do neither, and instead use the money to fingerprint everyone who takes the MTEL!"

...........I'm a little bitter at the education system right now.
