Well, I thought that it was pretty funny. That whole style a humor via uncomfortable situations, i.e "Meet the Parents," however, tends to wear thin on me pretty quickly. On a larger scale, I worry that "The Office" is running out of steam. The writing is still good, but by solving the problem of Jim and Pam--the heart of the show--their forced to bring what used to be sub-plots into the forefront, and, as a result, I don't have as much invested in the characters as I did during the first three seasons. On a less critical note, despite its slight depreciation, it's still one of the only shows on television worth watching.
strangely, i'm reading the bell jar right now as well, and i agree with your sentiments exactly. the imagery and metaphors she creates are the only redeemable part. esther's descent in to madness seems so contrived and forced. there's no reason i can discern other than angst and anxiety. and if that was all you needed to be crazy i would've been eating bugs off the windowsill and cutting myself long ago.
1. I don't care what you and Sam say, The Bell Jar has been one of my favorite books for a long time. Although, I may admit, I probably need to reread it. 2. I love Iced Chai more than a lot of things.
