Adelaide's lament

Oct 01, 2007 14:52

I've had a cold for ten days and counting. It's not as bad now as it was a week ago (I can move, think, and go to work), but I'm still achy and tired and drippy. None of my standard home remedies seem to work -- juice, soup, garlic, ginger, multivitamins, even the usually sure-fire Cold Season tea. Any suggestions for what to try next? 10 days, you're still sick, and you haven't seen a doctor? Have you been running a fever all that time? If so, it is doctor time for you, my friend.

In the meantime, I'm partial to a hot toddy when I'm sick. It's not good for working time, but at home, it's just the thing.

In a standard mug, mix 1/2 shot of booze (I usually use bourbon, but rum or whiskey or vodka would also work) with an equal amount of honey, a dash of honey, and a bit of lemon juice. Fill rest of mug with boiling water and stir. Be sure to breathe in the vapor when you aren't drinking. Good for what ails ya.

Sleep is really the only thing that cures me, usually.

And if you're not averse to takin' some drugs, lately the only thing that has helped my colds is sleep due to Nyquil.

I have no useful home-remedy suggestions, but visit to the doctor sounds in order. Those aren't exactly the symptoms of a sinus infection, but it can't hurt to make sure.
