I had to wear braces for three years. (Seventh through 10th grade.)

During that time, for at least 6 months (maybe a year?) I had to wear an "appliance" called a "Tongue Crib" which was a little wire basket welded to the inside of my braces.

Its purpose? To put my tongue in the right place when I swallow.

I'd have rather been in some kind of therapy to learn that. I did get the stomach flu while the device was in place. The less said about that experience, the better.

I also wanted to be a vet, actually up until junior year in high school. I was kinda sans needles too.

(And I had braces too, but I just got the "expander" which was the thing that widened the top jaw. Isn't orthodontics kinda barbaric? :P )

Hey, how big is your belly, anyway? o_O
